Farren Comments On Restoration Of Devolution Committee Announcement

SDLP Senior Negotiator Sean Farren MLA has responded to the Secretary of States announcement that a cross party restoration of devolution committee is to be set up.

Speaking today Mr Farren stated:

“The SDLP will consider the Secretary of State’s proposal. The SDLP has entered this assembly with the clear determination to achieve the full restoration of the Good Friday Agreement. Our approach to the working of this committee will be similar.  The lessons of the failed deals of the past must be learnt. It must also be made clear that the failed Comprehensive Agreement of December 2004 is not a basis for progress. The clear mandated will of the people of Ireland is the Good Friday Agreement.
