Sinn Féin Accused of Removing SDLP Posters

Commenting on the fact that Sinn Fein election workers in Ballycastle have been seen covering up SDLP posters and removing others, SDLP’s North Antrim Campaign Manager Sean Farren said:

“I thought such incidents to be in the past and that parties had become more mature and respectful of each other’s right to publicise their candidates.

“To judge by what has been happening in the Ballycastle area this weekend some Sinn Féin workers are not yet ready to afford other parties the basic rights they claim for themselves.

“Posters for the SDLP’s candidate Orla Black have been covered by those for the Sinn Féin candidate while others have been removed.

“I am calling on the Sinn Féin candidate for North Antrim to condemn such behaviour and to instruct his workers to remove posters which have been placed over those of the SDLP candidate and to replace those that have been removed.

“I further request that the Sinn Féin candidate instruct his workers not to engage in such behaviour throughout the rest of the election campaign.”
