Fr Brian’s Legacy Will Endure
Commenting on the very sudden death of Portstewart’s parish priest, Fr Brian Mullan, former university colleague and parishioner Seán Farren MLA said:
“I first got to know Fr Brian when he joined the University of Ulster’s School of Education as lecturer in Religious Studies as well as serving there as chaplain.
“Fr Brian quickly gained the respect and friendship across the campus at Coleraine. Students became very fond of him and his advice was willingly sought and freely given. He enthused students for religious education and became a real friend to many.
“As spiritual leader in his parish of Portstewart he endeared himself to all his parishioners and to the whole community of the town. His work for inter-church understanding made a major contribution to community relations.
“Fr Brian, as he was always affectionately known, was a true leader who made a great contribution to life in the triangle area. It is a legacy that will endure. May he rest in peace.
