Sean Farren’s New Year Message
Expressing his and his party’s hopes for the New Year North Antrim MLA Seán Farren said:
“As a public representative my greatest hope is that 2006 will be marked by the early restoration of our political institutions and that the people of Northern Ireland and of Ireland as a whole will be able to benefit from political stability and increased economic prosperity. So, the sooner negotiations between all parties and both governments can start the better.
“Secondly, I would hope that 2006 will also be marked by much improved community relations and that we shall all join in addressing the twin curse of sectarianism and racism which causes so much hurt and division in our society.
“Beyond Northern Ireland I hope that we will continue to play a significant role in addressing the problems of poverty and disadvantage in places less well off than we are. Many people from Northern Ireland already make a big contribution to tackling poverty, famine and disease around the world. We need to strengthen their efforts and work even harder to eliminate these problems from a world that is so rich in its resources.”
